New Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Close Aide of UP Guv Anandiben Patel, Never Held Ministerial Post Before


A first-time MLA from Ghatlodia constituency in Ahmedabad, Bhupendrabhai Patel is all set to become the new chief minister of Gujarat. He will become the 17th chief minister of Gujarat.

The new chief minister will most likely take oath on Monday, sources said.

He has served as a municipal councillor in Ahmedabad and is known to be close to Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel, who has also represented Ghatlodia in Gujarat assembly.

Bhupendra Patel was earlier the chairperson of Ahmedebad Urban Development Authority, and has never held a ministerial post just like Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he became Gujarat CM 20 years ago.

The Gujarat BJP legislature party met on Sunday to choose the new chief minister following Vijay Rupani’s resignation.
